A feast of colour and fun
The Rother Sheltered Housing Gardening Competition received 26 great entries and, despite strange weather patterns and late judging, it was a tight contest!

Kerri Sweatman, our judge from Keydell Nurseries in Horndean, did a splendid job as our plant expert, while Ann Budd, a resident and Lifelink customer, added her own expertise as a keen garden lover. Julie Manchip, one of our Mobile Sheltered Scheme Managers with no particular allegiance to any of our schemes, and an enthusiastic hobby gardener, made up the judging panel.
Judging took place on 21 July when the weather held fine to show off all the gardens and floral displays at their best. Every entrant was commended and received a certificate of achievement. Causeway Farm in Horndean once again took the first prize for Best Communal Gardens. The gardens were both formal and informal and space was well utilised and included a beach scene and grapevine as well as seating areas, flower beds and vegetable plots.
