From our postbag
A resident recently complained about a letter we sent them saying that they had breached their tenancy by not allowing our gas engineer in to service their boiler. We checked and found our resident was quite right. They already had a gas safety certificate.
We agreed with the resident and have since apologised. This was an administrative mistake. We’ve now reviewed our processes to make sure that the correct information is filed correctly and are now employing more staff to administer this process specifically. We are also now working to electronic data transfer, to improve the service to customers.
Thank you Kaitlyn
We were pleased when a resident contacted us to thank Kaitlyn Rose Adams, one of our Income Officers. The resident had overpaid their rent and asked for it back. He appreciated Kaitlyn personally handing him the cheque.

I love 'R' Magazine
Your magazine brings a lot of joy and laughter and is a great help to all residents at Radian. It gives people the joy of writing stories and entering competitions. Seeing the joy and happy smiles on people’s faces when they’ve won, I truly think your magazine should be called Magazine of Hope. Mrs Kimberley Munro, Hampshire.

An English Autumn (A to Z)
Apples tumble temptingly, approaching harvest time,
Balmy autumn breezes break late summer’s humid clime,
Coasting currents of warm thermals, a bird of prey may tarry
Downward swooping, swiftly scooping up his tasty quarry.
Enter autumn’s glorious days and tranquil evenings burnished
From golden rays of setting sun cast low and crimson garnished,
Gazing up through twilight mists, see Venus in ascension, as
Hazily the harvest moon floats forth on the horizon.
In early morning air I walk by web-hung hedgerows sparkling and
Jewel-lustred drops of dew, reflect first rays of dawning,
Keen squirrels search for winter fare, their time of hibernation,
Laying up an ample store in secret safe locations.
Many are the joyful times each season brings to bear but
None so much as autumn time, my favourite time of year.
Opine I must concerning all the treasures it bestows
‘Pon my mind, it casts a spell and makes my senses glow.
Queen of all the seasons, a time to reap and store,
Rejoicing in the harvest, as they did in days of yore,
Singing hymns of joyful gratitude, for the fruits of human labour,
The gladness of the spirit and the fresh food that we savour.
Under grey and darkening skies, sweet autumn’s tenure spent,
Veering winds hurl winter’s blast, upon the land full bent
With cold intent, and icy glares, his onslaught is unceasing,
‘Xultant in his dominance, ‘til spring is seen advancing.
Yes, spring the busiest of times, with new life boldly thrusting,
Zestfully begins her work, a new round of seasons starting,
Yet, born to life in autumn and for all my given reasons, As life goes on, it will remain my most favoured of all seasons.

Rother resident

A resident rang to complain that the internal communal areas weren't being cleaned where she lived. So we consulted to see what other residents thought. They agreed with her. The cleaners' point was that the areas were messed up after the job was done. So we pinned up a public notice for the cleaners to date and time after each job for residents to check. Thanks to the resident who rang to thank Gary, the tradesman who sorted out her hot water repair. We always pass on praise. It's a positive way to help us understand better what you want. And, of course, Gary was chuffed to get it.
We aim to get our services right first time. Sometimes we don't, so residents ring or write to us to make a complaint. It goes to one of our people in our Quality Assurance Team whose job is ensure residents get a prompt response dealing with all the points residents raise. In our Annual Report to residents we publish the number of complaints we received and how many were upheld. Our aim is to be transparent with no spin.
To make a complaint or comment please call us on 0300 123 1 567. Or see our website www.radian.co.uk. Click "Contact Us". Or speak to any member of staff. You'll find the number of complaints we received on page 7.
We promise to publish some of the stories we received in our writing competition. This on...
